COURSE DESCRIPTION:  As psychedelics become more available, many psychologists and mental health professionals are wondering what impact this will have on the field.  This workshop will provide an overview of current research and applications of psychedelics and mental health. Questions around new developments and potentials will be addressed, within a historical context of indigenous science and uses.  This will be offered in the context of current theories used in the specialty of psychedelics, including Internal Family Systems and Rogerian therapies.

INSTRUCTOR INFORMATION:

Celisa Flores, PsyD, received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School, Irvine in 2013.  Since that time, she has specialized in psychedelics for mental health at the intersection of trauma, healing, and mindfulness, with specialized training in MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for PTSD and Psychedelics and Autism

EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

• Understand the clinical evidence of on psilocybin for the treatment of psychiatric disorders
  
• Provide proficient psychoeducation on psychedelics and psychology
• Identify & understand the current trends, research, and CA regulations regarding psychedelics & psychology
  

 MEASURABLE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

• Challenge one historical narrative around psychedelic medicines
• Identify two evidence-based realities of psychedelic medicines
• Discover two areas being researched for uses of psychedelic medicines
• Identify one brain impact of psychedelics
• Identify at least one legal consideration when implementing psychedelic-assisted therapy
